Sorry for the poor picture. My daughter took these for me so this will have to do hahaha! :)
Yes people, as crazy as it sounds, using coconut oil in my hair has definitely made a difference in the texture of my hair. It leaves my hair so soft and smooth after I apply it. I won't say that it changes it permanently of course, but it does add moisture and shine for a short period of time. In order to see continued results, you of course need to apply it maybe once every other week in my opinion. Coconut oil actually has a lot of good benefits for your hair. Not only does it add luster and shine, it can also stimulate hair growth and improves scalp health!
So how do I apply it and for how long? Its actually simple. I just section off my hair into small sections and apply a generous amount to each section. Do not be shy and go for it! I have not had a problem with the coconut oil leaving my thick hair too oily. If you have fine hair and feel it will do so, then try a small amount and go from there. You always can add more each time you try this method out if you feel the need to. After I have applied the oil all throughout my hair, I then either braid it or put on a shower cap and leave it on anywhere from 30 mins to 1 hour. It is totally a personal preference and its up to you. I personally leave mine on for 1 hour because my hair is dry and could use some extra moisture. After the time has expired, I then go ahead and wash my hair as a normally would then follow with a conditioner. In the picture above, I flat ironed it to achieve that look. My hair is naturally wavy but I wanted to straighten it so that you may see the difference.
